The word "Sabr" is widely misunderstood in our society and used to justify ill-treatment, abuse or to deal with problems our society have chosen to turn a blind eye towards. Sabr, meaning perseverance, absolutely does not mean that you have to put up with unjust situations but to have patience and put trust in Allah to make things better by standing up for your self. By becoming fearful and going into victim mentality and then glorifying that victims mentality as Sabr is also a behaviour that needs to be adjusted. Sometimes fighting for your rights, having strength, courage and having trust in Allah is also sabr and perhaps a better form of sabr.
